Weekly Index Rollout
Starting 14 July 2025, SCR began publishing weekly — free to air — coal price assessments every Friday, giving the market a sharper read on price momentum between monthly benchmarks.
Weekly prices are assessed at Friday close, using the SCR monthly methodology, which is based on
“the mid of market mids” — not a journalist’s guess, a private club figure, or the output of an unregulated trading platform where trades of a few thousand tonnes either didn’t really happen or can be quietly reversed offline.

Nothing else changes: the SCR monthly index remains fixed on the last calendar day of each month. It’s up to the market whether to use the weekly, average of the weeklies, or month-end for physical and derivative deals.”
