Sceats Coal Report and CoalTradersHandbook.Com analysed actual 2023–2024 international trade data to identify the representative qualities of the key grades traded in the international coal market.
Rather than describing benchmark coal solely through contractual minimum and maximum limits, we publish average values across our Five Metrics, together with a representative sizing assumption.
Unless otherwise stated, SCR assumes a 50 mm nominal top size, with fines below 5 mm not exceeding 30% by weight and oversize above 50 mm not exceeding 5% by weight.
SCR publishes its Indonesian FOB benchmarks weekly and free to air. Benchmarking for ARA, Richards Bay and Newcastle is available privately on a fee-paying basis.
